Are you already planning your next trip to Finisterre by motorhome? If so, your route should include three essential stops: Carnota Beach, Ézaro Waterfall, and, of course, the Cape at the End of the World. Are you on board for this magical adventure?👍
The truth is, this isn’t the first time Carnota and Ézaro have appeared on our blog. We already talked about these destinations in our post about Costa da Morte in a motorhome . However, we felt we could tell you much more about them. Whatever it takes, as long as you get the most out of your campervan trip through Galicia!
With Carnota , our trip to Finisterre by motorhome starts in style. This beach stands out not only for its pristine beauty, but also for the marine bioluminescence (ardentía ) of its waters .
The Costa da Morte is one of the best places in Spain to appreciate this fascinating phenomenon. This is due to three factors: the high concentration of dinoflagellate microorganisms, the purity of its waters, and the low light pollution.
As you can imagine, Carnota’s cuisine revolves around seafood. Octopus with clams, grilled fish, seafood rice, and ray stew are among its specialties. Treat yourself to a typical seafood culinary tribute!
The parking lots you’ll find on your way to Finisterre by motorhome are permissive about overnight stays for this type of vehicle. Carnota is no exception. Of course, camping there is strictly prohibited.
There are three parking areas: one asphalt and two dirt, these being the most suitable for motorhomes. However, since this tourist attraction attracts many visitors, it’s best to arrive at the parking lot around 9 p.m. to avoid missing out. We recommend parking in Aldea Pedrafigueira, a free area open year-round.
Our route to Cape Finisterre by motorhome takes us to another essential stop. We are referring to Ézaro, located 18 km from Carnota.
Of course, it would be a crime to go to Finisterre without stopping in Ézaro. Not surprisingly, this village is home to the only European waterfall that flows directly into the sea. As if that weren’t enough, on summer nights, its waters are illuminated with colorful lights. What more could you ask for?
Being near the Ézaro waterfalls is, by all accounts, a memorable sensory experience. Admiring the natural surroundings while listening to the sound of falling water is more than enough to take the stress away.
You have two access routes to the viewpoint… and we can already tell you that there are significant differences between the two:

As one of Galicia’s major tourist attractions, Ézaro embodies the region’s main culinary specialties. Thus, it’s an ideal destination for tasting delicacies such as pulpo á feira , Padrón peppers, lacón con grelos, and Betanzos tortilla. Don’t forget to round off your meal with a delicious orujo!
If you’re looking for a place to park your van while visiting the waterfalls, we recommend parking at Dumbría. This free parking lot is next to several establishments, souvenir shops, and more. From there, you’ll have easy access to the lower part of the falls, where a wonderful light and sound show is offered on summer weekends. Don’t miss it!

The Cape at the End of the World is the crowning glory of this motorhome route through Finisterre. No wonder. This final point is loaded with symbolism, especially for pilgrims continuing their journey to Santiago de Compostela.
Located about 143 meters above sea level, the Monte Facho Lighthouse is the unmistakable icon of the Cape. Throughout your life, you’ve seen many sunsets, but the one awaiting you here promises to be one of the most breathtaking.
Once you reach Cape Fisterra, the range of tourist options is capable of satisfying all types of travelers:
Longueirón, a type of native razor clam, is the star of the Finisterra table. In fact, the omelet made with this mollusk is considered a true local treasure. You shouldn’t miss the calleiro , a traditional dessert that’s hard to find outside the region.
Eating at Cape Finisterre in a motorhome couldn’t be more convenient. After all, you have a small bar right in the lighthouse itself, and several restaurants in town deliver their food to the upper area (as long as they’re not too crowded). With so many facilities, you have no excuse not to stuff yourself without leaving your motorhome.

Although there are several parking lots around the lighthouse, this one on the Finisterre road is your best option for spending the night when visiting the cape. Besides being free, it’s a very peaceful spot from which you can admire spectacular views. Have your camera ready at both sunrise and sunset!
If you prefer a serviced RV park , you’ll find one in the village. It’s 200 meters from Langosteira Beach and requires a fee. However, it won’t be easy to find a spot during peak season, so we recommend calling in advance or arriving early.
